Privacy Policy

Best Doctor BD ("we," "us," or "our") operates a free directory of doctors practising in Bangladesh. This policy explains what information we collect from patients and from doctors who use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We collect only what's needed to run the directory:

• Account information. If you create an account to submit or manage a listing, we collect your name, email address, and phone number.
• Profile information. Name, degrees, designation, workplace, BMDC number, chamber address, phone, website, social links, specialties, photos, and description submitted by doctors.
• Unfinished applications. If a doctor starts the add-profile form and stops after giving a phone number, we keep the answers typed so far (never the password) so our team can get in touch and help them finish.
• Our notes on contacting doctors. When our team calls or messages a doctor about joining or paying, we keep short notes of what was said, when to get back in touch, and whether they told us they are interested. These are seen only by our team. A doctor who says they are not interested stops receiving our automatic fee reminders.
• Which version of the add-profile page you saw. The add-profile page comes in two layouts so we can see which one works better. A small cookie keeps you on the same layout for thirty days, we count how many browsers opened each one, and a doctor who applies has the layout they applied from noted on their profile. It says nothing else about you and only our team sees the counts.
• Who invited a doctor. When a doctor joins through a colleague's invite link, we note which doctor invited them. Only our team sees it, and nothing is paid or charged for it.
• What you type into the AI assistant. The assistant is optional. When you use it, your messages pass through our server to OpenRouter, which sends them to the AI model that writes the reply. We do not store the conversation on our servers: it is kept in your own browser so you can pick it up again, and clearing your browser data removes it. Please do not type your name, phone number or anything else that identifies you. There is no booking form on this site and no messaging with doctors (patients call the chamber directly).
• Payment information. A doctor paying the registration fee through bKash does so on bKash's own pages, so we never see a PIN or card number; we keep a record of the payment (amount, date and bKash's reference). A doctor who pays by Send Money or a QR scan tells us which app they used and the mobile number they sent it from, and we keep that so we can find the payment in our statement.
• Usage analytics. Basic, non-identifying traffic analytics from our host. We do not track which profiles you look at, and we keep no per-profile view counts.
• Cookies. A session cookie keeps you signed in. The only advertising cookies are Meta's: they are set on the add-profile page, and once on a doctor's dashboard or invoice when their registration fee is confirmed. If you arrive from one of our Facebook adverts, we also keep the advert's click reference in a cookie so a sign-up can be matched to the advert, and the add-profile page keeps a small cookie recording which of its two layouts you were shown. Browsing the directory sets none.
• Advertising measurement, for doctors only. We advertise to doctors on Facebook. On the page where a doctor adds their profile we tell Meta when someone opens it and when a profile is submitted, and we tell Meta again when that doctor's registration fee is paid, so we can tell which adverts actually reach doctors. With those two reports we send Meta a scrambled (one-way hashed) form of the doctor's name, email address, phone number and district, and of our own reference for their profile, which lets Meta recognise a doctor it already showed the advert to without us handing over the details themselves. No page a patient uses reports anything to Meta, and we never send anything about which doctors you view or search for.

• Operate and maintain the directory, including your account and profiles.
• Write to you about your own listing, by email and SMS: when you apply, when we have checked your registration, your registration fee invoice and reminders while it is unpaid, when you are published, occasional messages about the directory, and the password-reset notices Supabase sends.
• Detect and prevent abuse of public forms (e.g. rate-limiting spam submissions).

We do not sell your personal information. The one exception to sharing is the advertising measurement described above, which covers doctors joining and paying and nobody else: nothing a patient does on this site is shared with an advertiser.

These providers process data on our behalf, under their own privacy and security terms:

• Supabase: hosts our database, file storage, and account authentication.
• Resend: delivers the emails we send you about your listing.
• Automas: delivers the text messages (SMS) we send you about your listing.
• bKash: takes registration fee payments made through its checkout.
• OpenRouter: passes messages typed into the AI assistant to the AI model that answers them.
• Google reCAPTCHA: checks the add-profile form for automated spam.
• Vercel: hosts the site and provides basic, anonymised traffic analytics.
• Meta (Facebook): measures the adverts we run to doctors, on the add-profile page and when a doctor's registration fee is paid, and on no page a patient uses.

We keep account and listing data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Account settings. Deleting your account unlinks any profiles you own (they stay listed, without an owner) and permanently removes your account. To request deletion of other information we hold about you, email us at info@bestdoctor.bd.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address below and we'll respond as soon as we can.

Best Doctor BD is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
