How to Get a Doctor's Serial (Appointment) in Bangladesh
Most specialists in Bangladesh see patients at chambers, often inside a diagnostic centre or hospital, for a few hours on set days. You do not book a time slot the way you might elsewhere: you take a serial, and patients are seen in serial order.
Step by step
- Find the doctor, then check which of their chambers suits you and on which days and hours they sit there.
- Call that chamber's serial desk, on the number listed beside its visiting hours.
- Give the patient's name and age, and say whether it is a first visit or a follow-up.
- Note the serial number you are given and the time you are told to arrive.
- Take your previous prescriptions and test reports with you.
Worth knowing
A doctor who sits at more than one chamber has a separate serial desk, separate days and sometimes a separate fee at each. Call the desk of the chamber you mean to go to.
Serials for a busy chamber can fill up, so call ahead of the day you want to go rather than on the way.
